Katy Perry and David Beckham star in Adidas advert

Katy Perry and David Beckham have donned their running shoes for a new Adidas TV commercial.

The pair is joined by Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi and basketball star Derrick Rose in the athletic advertisement, during which they each sprint through their home city.

Soccer favourite Beckham is seen jogging along the banks of London's River Thames, while pop star Perry pounds the sidewalk in Los Angeles. Chicago Bulls player Rose is backed by the Chicago skyline and Barcelona striker Messi visits Buenos Aires.

While the three sportsmen appear to undertake an arduous run, Katy's jog seems a little less tiring - she tosses her hair and appears to flirt with a cyclist who passes her by.

The film was shot just two weeks after the star's split from funnyman Russell Brand in January (12) but the buoyant singer managed to put on a brave face for the day.
