Katie Holmes battles broken prop on play's opening night
Katie Holmes finally unveiled her new Broadway play on Monday night (05Nov12) after the first show was delayed in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, but the actress was left battling a broken prop.
The former Dawson's Creek star has returned to the stage in a production of new play Dead Accounts, by Smash creator Theresa Rebeck, but the first night of previews was cancelled last week (begs29Oct12) after heavy wind and rain hit the East Coast and crippled most of New York City.
The curtain finally went up on the production on Monday, but
Holmes' first night on stage was far from smooth - she was left
battling a broken prop in one scene when a telephone handset
snapped.
However, the actress stayed calm and fixed the prop without
stopping her dialogue, according to People.com.
The play marks Holmes' first return to work since her high profile
divorce from Tom Cruise earlier this year (12).
