Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio still quote Titanic to each other
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio still like to quote their 1997 movie Titanic to each other.
The 41-year-old actress starred as Rose in the romantic disaster epic, while Leonardo took on the role of love interest Jack. The pair have remained close friends since starring in the Oscar-winning film, and frequently make each other laugh by recycling lines from the script.
"You don't even want to know the last conversation we had, because it was so funny and made me laugh so much," Kate told Glamour magazine of her friendship with Leonardo. "We found ourselves saying to each other, 'Can you imagine if the world really knew the stupid things we say?'
"I'm not going to tell you what we actually talk about, but yeah, we're very, very close and sometimes we do quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other, because only we can, and we find it really funny."
Titanic made Kate a household name, and the actress has since taken on roles in films including Sense and Sensibility, The Reader and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
However, she admits she would have struggled if she hadn't found fame as a screen star, because acting was the only thing she was ever good at.
"I should have had one (a back-up), because if it had all gone t**s up, I would have been stuck. I had a fleeting idea about becoming a hairdresser, but I cut off a friend's earlobe trying to cut their hair," she laughed. "I saw him again not too long ago and I was like, 'I'm so sorry for your earlobe.' He said, 'Yeah, you can still see the marks, but I'm proud of that now, Kate!'"
Kate and Leonardo have remained close pals since their Titanic days and were recently seen holidaying in Saint-Tropez together. They reunited onscreen in 2008 movie Revolutionary Road, with Kate praising her friend as she accepted her best actress prize for her role in the film at the Golden Globe Awards the next year.
"Leo, I'm so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I've loved you for 13 years. I love you with all my heart, I really do," she said in the speech.
