Kate Beckinsale's husband talked her into Underworld role
Kate Beckinsale's filmmaker husband Len Wiseman had to convince the actress to reprise her role as a vampire in the Underworld franchise.
The British actress starred in the first two movies, but was left out of the third instalment, and she was reluctant to reprise the role of the vampire character Selene in the forthcoming Underworld: Awakening as she was originally told the series was a trilogy.
However, Len Wiseman, who co-created the story, was determined to coax his wife into playing the part once more.
She says, "I really wasn't intending to do another one. I kind of always heard that it was a trilogy and that was that.
"I didn't like the idea of rehashing the same whole thing too much. I've never played the same part even twice before. So I thought that doing it for the third time was like, 'Where would you take it where it is worth doing?'
"Len is a really great husband and has learned to just ignore his wife going, 'No', and just quietly write a script for a couple of years and then say, 'Actually, I have had this pretty good idea'."
