Kanye West surprises Isle of Skye residents with video shoot

Kanye West stunned locals on the remote Isle of Skye in Scotland when he arrived to shoot a music video.

The rapper stayed at the Skeabost House Hotel in Skeabost Bridge, almost seven miles (11 kilometres) from the main town of Portree, on Sunday (10Apr16) with his stylist and production team while they filmed promo footage for his next single Waves, from new album The Life of Pablo.

Kanye and his crew took over half of the hotel's 14 rooms and he reportedly bedded down in the hotel's luxury honeymoon suite - its largest room - overlooking the sea, and co-owner Anne Gracie would welcome him back any time.

"Kanye was the perfect guest - charming, courteous and polite" she said. "We were delighted to offer him and his companions our usual Highland hospitality and would welcome him back any time."

A hotel spokesman revealed staff had no idea Kanye would be their high-profile guest and he was friendly, with them but banned them from taking pictures.

"Kanye checked into his room which overlooked the sea and had some supper before having a snooze in his four-poster bed," the representative told Scotland's Daily Record newspaper. "The staff said he chatted to everyone. Photographs were banned.

"They said he was just like one of the guys... They did ask if (his wife) Kim Kardashian West was part of his entourage, but were told she was elsewhere... he was busy and did not have a lot of time. He was here to work."

Kanye, who reportedly left after filming finished on Sunday, recently thanked fans for helping The Life of Pablo reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart following its original release exclusively on TIDAL in February (16). He later rolled it out across other streaming service and iTunes.

"Thank you to everybody who made The Life of Pablo the number 1 album in the world!!!," he tweeted. "I also wanted to point out that it's the first album to go number 1 off of streaming!!!"
