Kanye West's song leak was not down to laptop theft
Kanye West's representative has denied reports suggesting hackers leaked the rapper's new track Awesome online after stealing his laptop.
The Stronger hitmaker's previously unreleased song, a tribute to his wife Kim Kardashian, surfaced online on Wednesday (11Mar14) and a new Twitter.com account with the handle @kanyelaptop subsequently appeared on the Internet.
The user suggested the account had been created by someone who had
found the rapper's laptop at a Paris Fashion Week venue in France
and threatened to leak other songs, personal details and
information of upcoming business deals.
However, the rapper's representative has now issued a new statement
declaring it a hoax, telling Usmagazine.com, "The stories
circulating that Kanye West's laptop has been stolen are completely
false... His laptop has never been out of his possession. Hence,
the laptop has not been hacked, and there has been no leak of
personal data such as unreleased music, photographs, designs,
videos or any other personal files. The leak today of the
unreleased track Awesome was unrelated and completely
coincidental."
