Kanye West debuts new material at club DJ gig
Rapper Kanye West treated guests at a London club to a special preview of his new material on Sunday night (06Jul14) after wrapping his third set at the U.K.'s Wireless Festival.
The Stronger hitmaker performed at the Birmingham leg of the annual event on Sunday and returned to London after the show to DJ a private bash, where he decided to showcase his latest music.
According to reports, West debuted around 20 tracks during his
lengthy set, with one guest, Jason Powell, describing the new songs
as "dark", "hellish (sic)" and "groundshaking".
West spent Independence Day weekend (04-06Jul14) as the headlining
act for the entire Wireless Festival, pulling double duty at the
London dates of event on Friday (04Jul14) and Saturday (05Jul14)
after fellow rapper Drake canceled due to illness.
However, both of the London shows were blighted by booing from the
crowd after West launched into his usual rambling monologue about
life in the public eye, and at Sunday's concert in Birmingham, he
admitted the negative reactions had "hurt" his feelings.
He told the Perry Park audience, "The media wrote that people
booed. And you know what? I'm not going to lie, I'm not invincible.
It hurt me a little bit, because I knew how much of a good time
everyone had."
