Kaley Cuoco: 'Divorce brought ups and downs'

Actress Kaley Cuoco is finally in a better place after dealing with her divorce during a "rough" year.

The Big Bang Theory star confirmed she was splitting from tennis ace Ryan Sweeting in September 2015, less than two years after they married following a whirlwind romance. They are still in the process of finalising their breakup, but Kaley, 30, has moved on and accepted her new life.

"Yes, I’m getting divorced. You know, last year was very bizarre and we all go through really weird ups and downs," she told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. "And sometimes I’m a little bit more seen. And everyone goes through that stuff.

"I already feel like 2016 is going to be a much better year than 2015. And, you know, it’s been rough, but things are going good. I’m much, much better now. I’m in a much better place than I was."

Kaley famously had her wedding date, 31 December 2013, tattooed on the top of her back after she tied the knot. Once her divorce was decided on and she'd got used to the idea she opted to have the inking covered with a pair of large butterfly wings, a process she documented via a series of photos on Instagram.

Ellen joked about the new permanent marking, with Kaley sheepishly admitting she probably should have thought harder about both tattoos."'I know. I know. I know. I had the date tattooed on my back and everything to remind me," she said.

"I know. I know. Don't tattoo wedding date. I know. I know... I had to cover it, I had to cover it with the wings. (I chose them) because it was big enough to cover the numbers... big wings. It's just what I picked out when I was there."
