Written by . Published: September 28 2011

Justin Timberlake is to be hailed for his environmental efforts with a special award next month (Oct11).

The SexyBack hitmaker is following in the footsteps of Edward Norton, Rosario Dawson and Maroon 5 by picking up the Futures prize at The Environmental Media Awards (EMA), which applauds future environmental leaders in the entertainment field.

Timberlake is being praised for reducing his carbon footprint on his tours, his eco-friendly golf course near Memphis, Tennessee and his activism fighting for environmental issues.

EMA President Debbie Levin is labelling the star "a great example of how you can lend your voice for positive change".

The ceremony will take place on 15 October (11) in Burbank, California.
