Justin Timberlake & Macklemore & Ryan Lewis top year-end hits list
Justin Timberlakeand Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have ended an amazing year on a chart high after officially landing the biggest album and singles hits of 2013.
Timberlake's 20/20 Experience has topped Billboard 200's year-end albums chart, while the rap duo's quirky Thrift Shop is the Hot 100's bestselling song of 2013.
Timberlake becomes the first solo male artist to top the album
sales list since 2005 when 50 Cent's The Massacre was the year's
bestseller. The 20/20 Experience debuted at number one with sales
of almost 970,000 and spent three weeks at number one and a total
of 18 weeks in the top 10.
Timberlake ends Adele's reign as the queen of album sales - her 21
was the top album in 2011 and 2012. It ironically falls to number
21 on this year's countdown.
Taylor Swift's Red, which was released last year (12), is 2013's
second biggest seller, while One Direction's Take Me Home is
third.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who picked up three Grammy Award
nominations last week (06Dec13), rule the singles countdown,
becoming the first duo to top the end-of-year sales list since
Captain & Tennille's Love Will Keep Us Together was a smash in
1975.
Thrift Shop spent six weeks at number one at the beginning of the
year.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also make the top five in the end-of-year
countdown with Can't Hold Us at five. Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines
has been named the year's second biggest selling single, while
Imagine Dragons' Radioactive is third on the list and Baauer's
Harlem Shake is fourth.
