Justin Bieber's pet monkey seized in Germany
Justin Bieber's pet monkey has been seized by German officials after the singer allegedly tried to sneak the animal into the country on board his private plane.
The Baby hitmaker flew from Los Angeles to Munich on Thursday (28Mar13) to continue the European leg of his Believe tour accompanied by the Capuchin monkey, Mally, but he did not have the required documents for the pet and now faces prosecution for breaking the country's strict health laws.
The animal is being kept in quarantine at the airport at Bieber's
expense, while the singer also faces a fine of more than $16,000
.
A customs spokesman tell Britain's The Sun newspaper, "The animal
required a certificate of health and other authorisations. You
cannot just land with a wild animal and bring it into the country
if the flight has not originated from another EU (European Union)
country and you don't have the proper paperwork."
Bieber did not mention the incident as he performed in the city on
Thursday night, and remained upbeat after the show when he took to
his Twitter.com page to write: "Munich was a good time. And loud.
The bus is headed to Vienna now. U (sic) coming?"
The incident marks the latest in a series of troubling events for
the teen star, who is currently being investigated for battery
following an altercation with his California neighbor on Tuesday
(26Mar13).
