Justin Bieber's foot injury delays community service

Justin Bieber has blamed a foot injury for falling behind on his community service requirements relating to an egging attack on his former neighbor's home.

The Baby hitmaker was handed the punishment in July (14) as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, six months after he was accused of hurling eggs at the property in a gated neighborhood in Calabasas, California.

The singer, who pleaded no contest to a count of misdemeanor vandalism, had hoped to meet the terms of his probation by the time of his latest progress hearing on Tuesday (10Feb15), but his lawyer, Shawn Holley, admitted her client had suffered a setback.

Holley appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on the superstar's behalf on Tuesday and told the judge Bieber had completed nine out of 12 anger management classes, but had yet to perform his five days of community service after hurting his foot during a soccer game in Turks and Caicos last month (Jan15). She offered up a doctor's note to the court to support her claim, according to TMZ.com.

Despite the community service delay, Bieber's probation officer submitted a largely positive report, stating, "(Bieber) has displayed a cooperative attitude and has expressed a sincere desire to be more diligent in complete (sic) anger management and community labor."

Bieber, who will remain on probation until 2016, settled the $80,000 in restitution he was ordered to pay his victim last year (14).
