Justin Bieber gives mum's charity birthday wish a big boost

Justin Bieber is helping to make his mum's birthday wish come true by asking his millions of Twitter.com fans to donate to her charity fundraiser.

The teen superstar's mother, Pattie Mallette, turned 38 on Tuesday (02Apr13) and in lieu of gifts, she set up a campaign on MyCharityWater.org and asked friends and family members to donate money to help build a fresh water well for those living in poverty in Ethiopia.

She set herself a $10,000 goal and received an extra boost from her famous son after he reached out to his over 36 million followers on Twitter to spread the news about her charity effort.

Sending his mom a loving tweet, Bieber wrote, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best mom in the world. @pattiemallette I love U (sic)! everyone trend HappyBirthdayPattie - love u mom. Have an amazing day!"

He then retweeted Mallette's charity post, which read: "My only birthdaywish...Almost halfway there. http://mycharitywater.org/pattiemallette".

As WENN went to press, Bieber's mom had raised over $4,770 for the cause. The fundraising page will continue to accept donations until 26 June (13).
