Jose Canseco shoots finger in gun accident

Controversial ex-baseball player Jose Canseco is nursing an injured hand after accidentally shooting himself while cleaning a gun on Tuesday (28Oct14).

Madonna's former lover hit the middle finger on his left hand while tending to his semi-automatic handgun at his home in Las Vegas, Lt. Mark Reddon of the city's Metro Police tells CNN.com.

His fiancee, model Leila Knight, tells TMZ Sports he was unaware that the weapon was loaded, and he underwent surgery in an attempt to save what was left of his appendage.

Knight adds that the bullet tore through the bottom part of the finger and doctors have told him it is likely he'll never have full use of it again.
