Jordin Sparks & Jason DeRulo split - report

Singers Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo have split, according to reports.

The R&B stars have been dating for three years, and appeared to be very much in love when they hit the red carpet together at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles last month (Aug14), but things went downhill from there it seems, and now sources tell multiple media outlets the pair has split.

There's no official word on the story, but Derulo, 25, has recently been spotted out and about without Sparks, while she hit Twitter.com last week (15Sep14) and wrote, "I just wrote the saddest song of my life".

The news emerges five months after Talk Dirty hitmaker DeRulo revealed he had penned a track about feeling under pressure to propose to Sparks.

Discussing the song Marry Me, he told MTV, "I was just trying to explain that we have forever, so what's the rush... There is a lot of pressure, and there was a lot of pressure before the song. I wrote the song because of the pressure and then I made the pressure worse because people just listen to the chorus and all they hear is 'Will you marry me?' so they're like 'Oh you're proposing' I'm like 'No'.

"In the song I'm saying when the time is right, I'm saying we have the rest of our lives. So the perfect time is on its way."
