Johnny Depp joins shocked Butch Walker for recording session
Country star Butch Walker was stunned to discover the guest producer pal Ryan Adams had booked for a recent recording session was none other than movie star Johnny Depp.
Adams invited his actor pal to sit in on a session for Walker's new album Afraid of Ghosts and told the singer/songwriter he would be joined by a guitarist named J Dizzle.
Filmmaker Noah Abrams captured the moment Depp entered the studio
in a short film which has been posted online, and Walker admits he
was a little starstruck: "He was everything you'd expect him to be:
coming in, just hat down, ripping a solo and then leaving very
mysteriously."
Depp and Adams have collaborated on a number of projects in recent
months, and the actor joined the singer onstage for a two-night
stand at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire in September (14).
The Pirates of the Caribbean star will head out on tour with Alice
Cooper and guitarist Joe Perry this summer - as The Hollywood
Vampires.
Depp's guest spot wasn't Walker's first brush with a Hollywood
superstar - pal Matthew McConaughey starred in his 2012 video for
Synthesizers, reprising his David Wooderson character from cult
film Dazed and Confused.
