John Legend sings Happy Birthday to a fan
John Legend made one student's birthday wishes come true on Tuesday (24Jan12) by serenading her on-stage during a speaking engagement at Bucknell University.
The singer made a special visit to the prestigious Pennsylvania school as a guest lecturer for its Creativity: Beyond the Box forum and there he shared his unique story and emphasised the importance of creativity as a musician and songwriter.
Addressing the packed auditorium at the Weis Center for the
Performing Arts, he said, "Creativity is powerful. It's what makes
people special. We must cultivate it, develop it like a muscle. I
love the idea of making something out of nothing. It's thrilling to
take ideas in my head and make songs - make art - out of them."
A question-and-answer session followed, during which one student
requested that the Ordinary People hitmaker sing Happy Birthday for
her pal, sophomore Lakiyra Williams, and an embarrassed Legend
obliged.
Later taking to his Twitter.com account to thank his fans for such
a warm welcome, he wrote in a post, "Thanks Bucknell U! I had a
great time!"
