Joaquin Phoenix rallies stars to join pig protest
Actor Joaquin Phoenix has rallied his celebrity pals to join him in a protest against alleged animal abuse at a leading pork supplier.
The Her star teamed up with Mercy for Animals, an organization aiming to prevent animal cruelty, and he has narrated a video detailing allegations against the business, which supplies meat to retail chain Walmart.
Phoenix appears in the graphic footage and encourages viewers to
join him in taking a stand against cruelty to animals, suggesting
they "simply stop eating them".
Since the video went up on the Mercy for Animals website on Tuesday
(02Dec14), the actor has received support from an array of stars
including Jessica Chastain and Emily Deschanel, who both posted a
message on Twitter.com reading, "Joaquin Phoenix slams @Walmart in
powerful new video by @MercyForAnimals exposing sickening abuse at
pig farm. Watch."
Other celebrities behind the campaign include Ryan Gosling, Kristen
Bell, Zooey Deschanel and Pamela Anderson.
