Jessie J avoids alcohol to save her voice
Jessie J avoids drinking alcohol on a regular basis in a bid to preserve her singing voice.
The Price Tag hitmaker admits she hasn't given up drinking completely, but moderates her alcohol intake to stay as healthy as possible.
She tells Britain's The Sun, "You are under pressure to always be
healthy, because there are days in your diary that people have been
looking forward to for months... I do drink when I go out, but I
don't really drink very often. I have a glass of wine or I have a
cocktail when I go out with my friends and that's OK... The odd one
is fine, but as an artist, it's not really my thing. Alcohol is
very acid based and when you see a voice doctor when your voice is
tired, the first thing they say is 'stop drinking'.
"As a piano player you wouldn't dip your fingers in acid, and
alcohol does that to your voice."
Jessie J also insists her job has ruined her social life as she
rarely has time to go out with her friends, adding, "I have
literally sacrificed so much in my life where I don't really get to
see my friends that much. I don't go out very often, because I want
to stay healthy while I am working and I think it's important. But
I also think that sometimes I do need to let my hair down and stay
up late."
