Jesse Metcalfe engaged

Jesse Metcalfe is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Cara Santana.

The former Desperate Housewives actor has been dating the fashion blogger for more than 10 years, and on Saturday (13Aug16), he finally popped the question during a romantic sailboat ride on the Hudson River in New York City.

Jesse tells Us Weekly he planned every detail of the proposal, making sure their song, Eric Clapton's Pretty Girl, was playing in the background as they watched the sunset from the deck of the boat.

He even designed the stunning 5.5-carat emerald shaped diamond ring he placed on her finger after she agreed to become his bride.

"It’s been a long time coming, but we couldn’t be happier," Jesse tells Us Weekly.

The celebration didn't stop there for the couple, as Cara turned 33 on Tuesday (16Aug16), and he took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and his new fiancee on the sailboat, adding the caption, "What a weekend! Meant to get this up yesterday, but was too busy celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my baby!!!"
