Jennifer Lopez scores third season of Shades of Blue

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating after TV bosses renewed her hit police drama Shades Of Blue for a third season.

The singer/actress portrays New York City Police Detective Harlee Santos in the series, about her efforts to stay out of trouble after her crew is caught playing dirty.

The second season only began airing at the start of this month (Mar17), but network officials at NBC have already decided to order another run.

JLo, who serves as an executive producer on the series, took to Instagram to mark the news on Friday (17Mar17), by posting a photo of herself and co-star Ray Liotta enjoying a laugh.

"See you for SEASON 3!!! #ShadesOfBlue," she captioned the picture.

"We're so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that Shades of Blue has so clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in a statement announcing the news. "This show continues to mine powerful stories that always leave us hungry for more."
