Jennifer Lopez reunites with Selena's widower
Jennifer Lopez reunited with late Mexican pop star Selena Quintanilla's husband Chris Perez at the first weekend of her Las Vegas residency on Friday night (22Jan16).
The Booty hitmaker, who portrayed the slain Mexican music icon in a 1997 biopic, kicked off her Jennifer Lopez: All I Have shows at the Planet Hollywood resort and casino on Wednesday (20Jan16), and days before her big premiere Perez sparked rumors he might be joining Lopez on stage.
On Monday (18Jan16), he took to Facebook.com to post a photo of a
guitar he used while recording Selena's Entre A Mi Mundo album,
adding, " Now, to get ready for J. Lo's residency in Vegas this
Friday."
Some fans were led to believe that he may be a surprise guest at
Lopez's show, but it turned out he was simply at the concert as a
fan and friend of Lopez while she took to the stage.
He posted a photo of him backstage with Lopez on Facebook, adding
the caption, "Rock N Roll...give it up for Jen. Gotta love
her."
Lopez has previously stated how much both the film and the artist
herself affected her life, and how Selena's family will always be
important to her.
"The impact that it had on my life, my career, it was a great thing
for her to be my mentor in a way and to teach me so much about how
to navigate this business, but also how to navigate through life,"
Lopez previously told breakfast show The Today Show. "It's a sad
story, it still gets me to this day because it really did mark my
life at that time, and to get to know the family and work with
them, it really was an important time in my life. It still is - and
it's 20 years later."
Selena was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of
her fan club, on 31 March, 1995.
