Jennifer Lawrence was unsure of Darren Aronofsky's feelings during Mother! shoot
Jennifer Lawrence has spoken of feeling an "energy" for director Darren Aronofsky on the set of his movie Mother! but didn't know how he felt about her.
The Hunger Games actress has been dating the Black Swan moviemaker for the past year after they met on the set of his psychological thriller. During her cover interview with Vogue magazine, she had clarified that they began seeing each other once the film had finished and she had no idea if her feelings for him were reciprocated during the shoot.
"We had energy," she said. "I had energy for him. I don't know how he felt about me."
She compared her relationship with him to others she had in the past, saying, "I've been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I'm never confused with him."
The 26-year-old, who has previously dated Nicholas Hoult, also praised Darren for his filmmaking talents, saying when she saw the finished movie for the first time she "was reminded all over again how brilliant he is... For the past year, I've been dealing with him as just a human."
According to Jennifer, the 48-year-old director is an "amazing" father to his son Henry, from his relationship with actress Rachel Weisz, and is unlike most Harvard University graduates in that he doesn't brag about his education, something she doesn't like.
However, there is one aspect about the actress he isn't keen on - her love of reality TV, which he finds "so vastly disappointing."
The Oscar winner even had a "Kardashian tent" near the set of Mother! where she could seek refuge from the dark material. Inside her "happy place" she had TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop and pictures of the stars.
She had to use it when filming got so intense, she began to hyperventilate and dislocated a rib.
"I have oxygen tubes in my nostrils, and Darren's like, 'It was out of focus; we've got to do it again.' And I was just like, '(Forget you),'" she joked.
Darren told Vogue that the Kardashian tent wasn't his idea, saying, "I wasn't involved in that... I was like, 'What are you talking about, 'the Kardashians?'"
