Jennifer Aniston slams 'distracting' social media
Jennifer Aniston doesn't understand the attraction of social media.
The 47-year-old actress is one of just a handful of stars who have resisted creating accounts on sites such as Twitter and Instagram. And while her husband, Justin Theroux, regularly updates his fans through the medium of social media, Jennifer won't be following in his footsteps anytime soon.
"I think it's (social media) really distracting," Jennifer told the
Press Association. "The amount of time it takes people to probably
post all of that stuff, it feels very time consuming. It's just not
my thing."
Jennifer was speaking to promote her new movie Mother's Day, in
which she stars alongside Jason Sudeikis.
The 40-year-old actor is a regular presence on the Internet, and
credits his fiancee Olivia Wilde, who hit headlines when she had an
online feud with Justin Bieber after criticising him for going
shirtless during a night out, for helping change his views on
social media.
"She's good at it," Jason said of his partner's messages online.
"It's not an all-day, every-day thing. She's funny. She speaks
about issues.
"I would say she changed my personal opinion of it. I have nothing
against it for other people. They can do whatever they want.
"A photo with a comment? Easy. I can handle that. The effort
doesn't hurt my feelings. The content? Possibly. It's just not my
bag."
Olivia has 1.7 million Twitter followers, while Jason is a long way
behind with just 46,500.
Mother's Day is the latest offering from Pretty Woman director
Garry Marshall, and features Jennifer and Jason as part of an
all-star cast including Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Shay
Mitchell.
It was the chance to work with Garry though that first attracted
Jennifer to the movie.
"It was a fun ensemble, a great group of people involved and it was
something fun to be a part of," she added.
