Jay-Z has shared his experience of New York's subway system in a new online documentary film, which shows him chatting to an old lady on his way to a gig in Brooklyn.

The hip-hop superstar stunned passengers on the Big Apple's underground system in October (12) when he jumped on a train and rode the rails to the Barclays Center Arena ahead of a massive show at the venue.

Footage of Jay-Z's adventure shows him sitting down in a subway carriage next to an elderly woman, who strikes up a conversation with the rapper even though she has no idea who he is.

The woman, who introduces herself as Ellen, asks Jay-Z what he does for a living and he replies, "I make music... (I'm) not very famous, you don't know me. I'll get there some day... I'm on my way to a performance in Brooklyn at the new Brooklyn arena."

Ellen tells the star, "Oh, that's fabulous... And you are going by subway? I'm proud of you."

She then asks him to repeat his name, and adds, "Oh! You're Jay-Z? I know about Jay-Z."

The film, posted on YouTube.com, also shows Jay-Z rehearsing for his shows and hanging out with his wife, Beyonce, backstage.
