Jay-Z has landed his 14th number one album on the Billboard 200.

4:44 debuts at the top of the new countdown, extending the rap superstar's run as the most successful solo artist on the chart.

Only Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand are close, boasting 11 number one albums apiece.

JAY-Z's new release also scores the biggest sales week of the year so far, with 262,000 album units sold.

4:44 was initially issued on 30 June (17) for one week of streaming exclusivity through the rap mogul's Tidal website. The free downloads were ineligible to chart.

The album became widely available on 7 July (17).

Every one of JAY-Z’s solo studio albums have reached the top since 1998's Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life. JAY-Z's previous album, Magna Carta... Holy Grail, debuted at number one in 2013.
