Jay-Z and Beyonce will become the latest celebrities to help boost funds for Barack Obama's re-election campaign on Tuesday (18Sep12) when they throw an intimate fundraiser for the President in New York.

Guests will pay $40,000 each to attend the exclusive event, which will take place at the rapper's 40/40 Club in Manhattan - and the bash will be limited to just 100 people.

Rallying support for the Democrat in an email to party supporters on Thursday (13Sep12), new mum Beyonce writes, "This has been a big year for my husband and me: We became parents. Now that we have more than our own futures to worry about, the stakes in this election are even higher."

A joint statement from the Crazy In Love hitmakers, in which the stars insist they are "committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that President Obama is re-elected so he can keep moving our country forward", was also released by the Democratic Party this week.

Obama will go up against Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the race for the White House in November (12).

Beyonce and Jay-Z, who welcomed daughter Blue Ivy in January (12), were key supporters of Obama during his 2008 campaign, and the R&B beauty performed an emotional rendition of Etta James' At Last at the President's inauguration ball in 2009 as the leader and his wife Michelle Obama enjoyed their first dance as the First Couple.
