Iggy Azalea's publicist slams ex as 'thief, felon and fugitive'
A representative for Iggy Azalea has blasted the rapper's ex-boyfriend as a "thief, felon, and fugitive" for continuing to "attack" the star after he filed bizarre divorce papers naming her as his common law wife.
Maurice Williams, aka rapper Jefe Wine, has asked a judge to recognize his relationship with Azalea as a 'marriage' after they lived together in Texas for five years, in a bid to prevent the Fancy hitmaker from selling off items accumulated during their time as a couple.
Local laws state a couple can be considered married if they reside
together for a long period of time and agree to present themselves
as husband and wife.
Azalea's spokesperson insists the hip-hop star, who was 17 when she
first met Williams, never agreed to be his 'wife', accusing him of
acting out of desperation after the Australian rapper sued him last
month (Sep14) to stop her ex from profiting from early songs he
allegedly stole from her personal computer.
The statement issued to UsMagazine.com reads: "It's disappointing
that this thief, felon, and fugitive is continuing to use the media
to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to
keep himself in the press.
"Iggy's federal court complaint froze Mr. Williams' ability to
trade on her fame by profiting from music he stole from her, so he
has resorted to elevating his predatory relationship with a
17-year-old girl into a sham 'marriage' claim unsupported by any
certificate or evidence."
