Iggy Azalea: 'My home is in America'

Rapper Iggy Azalea no longer considers her native Australia home.

The Fancy star moved from Mullumbimby in New South Wales to the U.S. at the age of 16 to pursue a rap career, and ten years later, the 26-year-old no longer feels a connection to her home country or thinks of herself as Australian.

"I mean, to be honest with you, my home is in America," she told Australian newspaper The Herald Sun . "It's great to come back (to Australia) and visit my grandparents, but there is no home connection.

“It would be like you going home to where you lived when you were nine, I kind of don’t associate with that anymore,” she continued.

She originally moved to Florida but now lives in Los Angeles and previously admitted she made the big move because she wanted to be in the music industry with the best and all the artists at the top of the Australian charts were American.

"I was in love with hip hop, and America is the birthplace of that, so I figured the closer I was to the music, the happier I'd be. I was right," she once told the Northern Star, adding she felt like an "outsider" in her own country.

However she is temporarily Down Under while she judges talent on the country's version of The X Factor alongside former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, and singers Adam Lambert and Guy Sebastian.

The interview comes days after Iggy, who split from her fiance Nick Young in June (16), was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday (11Sep16), when she denied she is in a relationship with fellow rapper French Montana, insisting they are "just friends" and she's still single. They were recently pictured kissing on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in August (16).
