Ice Cube has a good day as he hits the skies above Los Angeles
Rapper/actor Ice Cube took the skies above Los Angeles on Monday (20Jan14) after accepting a Ride Along with bosses at Goodyear as part of a charity initiative.
The former N.W.A. star was celebrating the 20th anniversary of his hit Today Was a Good Day, which references the Goodyear blimp, a sky-high staple that often floats above sports events and concerts in the City of Angels.
Goodyear bosses came up with the idea for the special flight after
learning of a petition to light up the sky with the message, 'Ice
Cube's a pimp' - the line from his 1993 song.
Goodyear bosses refused to use the line, but suggested a charity
trip for Ice Cube and kids from Los Angeles' A Place Called Home
charity to promote the rapper's hit new film Ride Along, which
sailed to the top of the box office over the weekend
(17-19Jan14).
Before the flight, a thrilled Ice Cube wrote out a cheque to boost
the charity.
