Hurricane Irene forces One Tree Hill to shut down production

Production on TV drama One Tree Hill has shut down for the weekend (27-28Aug11) to allow the cast and crew to make arrangements as Hurricane Irene heads for North Carolina.


The show, which shoots in Wilmington, ended production on on Thursday (25Aug11) and all weekend filming was cancelled in preparation for the storm, which is expected to lash the east coast on Saturday (27Aug11).

Sophia Bush, the star of the drama, took to Twitter.com on Thursday night to relay the news to worried fans.

She wrote, "OTH production has been canceled for tomorrow. All our fans in town, please stay inside! We will not be filming. Stay safe."

And co-star Austin Nichols added, "Shutting down production tomorrow. Can’t wait to dance with this large woman called Irene."

A representative for the show confirms, "As a precautionary measure and in consideration of our cast and crew, One Tree Hill production has shut down for today and tomorrow due to Hurricane Irene. We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days."
