Henry Cavill abruptly exits thriller Stratton
Henry Cavill has abruptly exited action thriller Stratton, just five days before he was slated to start filming.
The Man of Steel star was set to make the movie his first credit as a producer, after teaming up with his brother, Charlie, to develop the project through their Promethean Productions company.
However, executives at GFM Films, which is financing the project,
announced on Thursday (28May15) that Cavill has departed the film
as he couldn't agree with writers on the script.
A statement from GFM Films bosses reads: "It is with great regret
that we announce that Henry Cavill has pulled out of Stratton due
to creative differences on the script of the movie. With production
due to commence next week, we wish to keep the production team
together and Simon West as director so are working now to replace
Henry. Production will be delayed whilst we do this. Further
announcements will be made in due course."
Stratton is based on Duncan Falcone's eight-novel series, and was
to feature Cavill as an intelligence operative in Northern
Ireland.
Production was scheduled to begin on 2 June (15) in London and
Rome.
