Hayden Panettiere makes first outing since revealing depression battle
Hayden Panettiere made her first appearance since revealing her battle with postpartum depression, by attending her fiance's boxing match in Germany.
A spokesperson for the Nashville star announced in October (15) that she had admitted herself into a facility for treatment after she was diagnosed with depression following the birth of her daughter Kaya in December last year (14).
Wearing a mini-skirt, pink sweater and fedora, Hayden appeared
ringside at the boxing match in Dusseldorf on Saturday (28Nov15) to
support her fiance, former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir
Klitschko.
Despite Wladimir losing his nine-year championship reign to British
boxer Tyson Fury in the match on Saturday, Hayden looked healthy
and happy as she posed for photographers with the flag of her
fiance's home country, Ukraine, draped around her shoulders.
Hayden, who got engaged to the boxer in October, 2013, revealed her
battle with postpartum depression while on Live! With Kelly and
Michael in September (15).
She says, "It's really painful and it's really scary and women need
a lot of support. It's something a lot of women experience. When
(you are told) about postpartum depression, you think it's 'I feel
negative feelings towards my child; I want to injure or hurt my
child.'
"I've never, ever had those feelings. Some women do, but you don't
realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that
on."
Coincidentally, her character on Nashville is also dealing with the
condition. It was announced Hayden would be taking a break from
filming the show while she received treatment for her
depression.
Her spokesman said at the time, "(She) is voluntarily seeking
professional help at a treatment center as she is currently
battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her
privacy during this time."
