Harry Styles has scored his first U.K. number one as a solo artist after dethroning Ed Sheeran with his debut single Sign Of The Times.

Ed had been reigning over the countdown for 13 weeks with Shape of You, which was just three weeks shy of tying Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It For You for the record for the longest run at number one in Britain.

However, his bid for the title has been cut short thanks to One Direction star Harry, whose Sign of the Times edged out Shape of You by just over 3,000 combined units to take the top spot with a total of 3.5 million streams and 39,000 downloads.

Shape of You slips into second place, with another of Ed's tracks, Galway Girl, taking third place.

Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson fall one spot to four, pushing Drake's Passionfruit down to five.

There was still some good news for Ed - his latest album ÷ (Divide), held on to the U.K. number one, keeping Rag 'n' Bone Man at two with Human.

The Chainsmokers debut at three with their first album, Memories... Do Not Open.
