Longtime bachelor George Clooney has conceded married life feels "pretty great" after wedding British lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Italy over the weekend (27-28Sep14).
The Hollywood actor, who swore off marriage after his first union to Talia Balsam crumbled in 1993, walked down the aisle again in Venice, hosting a star-studded wedding gala on Saturday (27Sep14) and tying the knot officially in a civil ceremony on Monday (29Sep14).
The lavish reception at the Aman Canal Grande resort has been
detailed in People magazine, and pictures show guests including
Matt Damon partying. Other snaps show Clooney and Alamuddin cutting
their huge wedding cake and posing together as newly-weds with the
bride showing off her Oscar de la Renta gown.
Clooney, 53, tells the magazine that marriage "feels pretty damn
great," adding that Italy was the perfect location for the
nuptials: "(Venice is) the most romantic city in the world... We
met in Italy. We have a home there. We knew that was where we
wanted to get married."
The Oscar-winner adds of the future, "We're looking forward to
everything."
The article also reveals that Irving Berlin standard Always was
sung at the ceremony because it was the track Clooney's parents
danced to at their own wedding, while the newly-weds chose Cole
Porter's Why Shouldn't I? for their first dance. Wedding favours
for the guests included iPods loaded with the couple's favourite
music.
