fun., Frank Ocean and The Black Keys lead 2013 Grammy nominations
Grammy night looks set to be a lot of fun for pop act fun. next year (13) - the trio picked up nods in four of the main categories announced at the Grammy Nominations Concert Live event in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night (05Dec12).
The hitmakers will compete with Frank Ocean, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and Jack White for the Album of the Year Grammy in February (13) and Kelly Clarkson, Florence + The Machine, Maroon 5 and Pink for the coveted Pop Vocal Album prize.
Their We Are Young anthem is up for Record of the Year alongside
The Black Keys (Lonely Boy), Clarkson (Stronger), Gotye (Somebody
That I Used to Know), Frank Ocean (Thinkin' 'Bout You) and
nominations concert co-host and six-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift
(We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together).
fun. were also nominated for the Best New Artist trophy with
Alabama Shakes, The Lumineers, Ocean and Hunter Hayes, who earned a
nod for Best Country Solo Performance for his hit Wanted. He'll be
up against Dierks Bentley (Home), Eric Church (Springsteen), Ronnie
Dunn (Cost of Livin'), Blake Shelton (Over) and Carrie Underwood
(Blown Away).
All 81 categories were revealed after the Grammy Nominations
Concert Live, with fun., The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, Jay-Z,
Ocean, Mumford & Sons and Kanye West leading all artists with six
nods each, while The Black Keys, Chick Corea and Miguel scored five
and rapper Nas and producer Jeff Bhasker grabbed four apiece.
Swift and LL Cool J co-hosted the nominations ceremony at the
Bridgestone Arena, where fun., Maroon 5 and Ne-Yo performed live.
Rapper LL Cool J took a moment at the end of the celebration to pay
tribute to jazz great Dave Brubeck, who died earlier on
Wednesday.
The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be handed out in Los Angeles on
10 February (13).
