French awards bosses apologise to Katy Perry over technical issues
Katy Perry has received an apology from bosses at a top French awards ceremony after a technical glitch forced her to restart a performance over the weekend (14-15Dec13).
The Firework hitmaker was a double winner at the NRJ Awards prizegiving on Saturday night (14Dec13) in Cannes, taking home the International Female Artist of the Year title and landing International Song of the Year for Roar.
She also performed the global hit at the ceremony, but was left
red-faced when the show's host ran onto the stage to explain that
she was performing out of sync with the backing track due to a
technical problem.
Perry started over, but fans took to Twitter.com to complain her
performance was poor. Now organisers have reached out to the singer
to apologise for the embarrassing incident.
A statement from NRJ reads, "Katy Perry was singing live at the NRJ
Awards Saturday night in Cannes, but regrettably the wrong mix has
been played accidentally which over-rode Katy's live vocal feed
on-air at the beginning of her performance of Roar.
"NRJ would like to apologise to NRJ double award winner Katy Perry
for this technical problem beyond our control."
