Foo Fighters get their own day in Richmond, Virginia

A Foo Fighters fan who launched a crowdfunding campaign to persuade Dave Grohl and his bandmates to perform in his home city has helped land the group its own day there.

Richmond, Virginia Mayor Dwight C. Jones declared 17 September (14) Foo Fighters Day on Wednesday, hours before the rockers performed at the National Theater.

Andrew Goldin launched the crowdfunded gig and raised over $70,000 (GBP43,700) to convince his favorite band to play its first concert in the city since 1998.
