Foo Fighters fans reach donation target for second U.K. gig
Foo Fighters fans have surpassed a crowdfunding target to bring the band to Cornwall, England for a show, marking the second campaign to successfully reach its goal in the U.K.
Fans of the Everlong hitmakers launched a drive on Crowdfunder.co.uk on Monday (29Sep14) asking fellow enthusiasts to donate money in a bid to bring the band to Cornwall in the south west of England.
The organizers of the Cornwall campaign cite the county's "thriving
music scene", and hope a visit from the Foo Fighters will "bring in
the big names that we deserve to have visit."
Fans surpassed the $242,886 target in just three days, raising more
than $254,632 with 53 days left to run.
The successful campaign comes days after fans raised enough money
for a Foo Fighters gig in Birmingham, England. The trend was
started weeks ago by a devotee in Richmond, Virginia, who was
successful in securing a gig in his hometown.
Frontman Dave Grohl and his bandmates have yet to confirm if they
will play the U.K. shows.
