Eva Longoria blames engagement rumours on New Year mix-up
Eva Longoria has dismissed rumours her boyfriend proposed during a festive break in Colombia.
The former Desperate Housewives star has been dating Jose 'Pepe' Antonio Baston, the president of Latin American TV and media company Televisa, for more than a year and recent reports suggested they were preparing to step their relationship up a gear.
The gossip went into overdrive over the holidays when Longoria was
spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left hand after a vacation in
South America, sparking rumours her partner had popped the question
at a New Year's Eve party, but the actress is adamant it was all a
big misunderstanding.
She tells Extra, "There's not (a new ring on my finger)... You
know, it's so funny... I can see where people thought this was true
because on New Year's (Eve) I wore white, because my black dress
didn't fit and I just took my back-up dress which just happened to
be white. Then because of the flight... I wear a ring on (my index
finger), but I had to move it to (my ring finger) because I was so
swollen from the flight.
"Then we dedicated a song to our friends who are getting engaged,
the song was called... Will You Marry Me but we dedicated it to
Britney and Gary, but it was all in Spanish... So I was like I can
totally see (why) people think that that happened... because I had
the ring, the white dress, the song..."
Longoria goes on to reiterate the jewellery is definitely not an
engagement ring, adding, "I wear (the ring) all the time. It's just
a Martin Katz ring that I've had forever."
