Enrique Iglesias suffers fractured hand in drone accident
Superstar Enrique Iglesias is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing reconstructive hand surgery to treat a fracture and deep cuts suffered in a drone mishap at his concert in Mexico over the weekend (30-31May15).
The Hero singer sliced his fingers while onstage in Tijuana on Saturday (30May15), after reaching out to grab a drone which is used at his gigs to capture footage of the crowd.
He refused to cut short the set and instead pressed on with the
show, despite blood dripping from his bandaged wound.
Iglesias was later taken by ambulance to the local airport, where
he boarded a plane to Los Angeles to see a medical specialist.
He headed into the operating room on Monday (01Jun15), but the
surgery was a little more complicated than expected as doctors
discovered the star had also suffered a fracture.
A message posted on Iglesias' website on Tuesday (02Jun15) reads:
"We wanted to give you a personal update about his condition. His
recent surgery lasted longer than expected since the damage ended
up being a bit worse than initially assessed.
"He suffered a fracture that needed to be corrected in addition to
the reconstructive surgery. He will be recovering during the next
few weeks, but a full recovery is anticipated. - Team Enrique".
The 40 year old is now recovering from the operation. He isn't due
to resume his Sex and Love Tour until July (15).
