Emile Hirsch charged with assault following alleged Sundance showdown
Into The Wild star Emile Hirsch has been charged with felony assault for allegedly attacking a woman at a Sundance Film Festival party in Utah last month (Jan15).
Police officers were called to Tao nightclub in Park City early on 25 January (15) after the actor allegedly assaulted Paramount Pictures executive Daniele Bernfeld, according to People.com
Bernfeld told police Hirsch "put her in a chokehold" following a
verbal altercation and then "pulled her across the table and onto
the floor".
She claims two bystanders restrained Hirsch after he reportedly
began to choke her.
In the police report obtained by the website's editors, the
arresting officers claim Hirsch admitted he was inebriated during
the argument with Bernfeld, who he had never met before that
night.
Hirsch, who was charged with third degree felony aggravated assault
and misdemeanor intoxication, could face up to five years in prison
and a $5,000 fine if convicted. He is due in court on 16 March
(15).
