Eddie Redmayne welcomes first child

Eddie Redmayne has become a father for the first time, welcoming a daughter.

The British actor, 34, and wife Hannah Bagshawe placed an announcement in Britain's The Times newspaper on Saturday (18Jun16) stating they had become parents to a baby girl, Iris Mary.

The announcement gave Iris Mary's date of birth as Wednesday (15Jun16), and their spokesperson confirmed the news to British newspaper The Sun, saying, "Yes, I can confirm it’s true.”

Eddie and Hannah, who married in 2014, revealed they were expecting a child together at the Golden Globe Awards in January this year (16), with the couple confirming to E! Live From the Red Carpet host Ryan Seacrest that Hannah was pregnant.

Ryan asked The Theory of Everything star if a baby was on the way, to which Eddie replied, "That is true!"

"It's been unbelievable," Hannah told the TV host, adding, "So much has happened we can't even compute."
