Eddie Redmayne: 'My daughter is worth losing sleep over'
Eddie Redmayne is a hands-on father when it comes to his baby daughter Iris.
First-time parents Eddie and his wife Hannah Bagshawe welcomed the tot in June (16), and despite a hectic filming schedule, Eddie has quickly taken to his daddy duties.
Chatting to Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday's episode (02Oct16) of the
talk show, Eddie explained that while he could do with a bit more
rest, looking after Iris is worth the sleep sacrifice.
"She is heaven," he gushed. "It's worth it because, occasionally,
there's that amazing thing where it's three o'clock in the morning
and you go in, and you're sort of gently furious, and then you get
a little smile, and your heart breaks a bit, and it's totally worth
it."
Eddie can next be seen in the highly anticipated new J.K. Rowling
flick, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set 70 years before
the Harry Potter story. In it he plays writer Newt Scamander, and
he admits he loved the script from the get-go.
"When I read this script, I didn't know what to expect and it blew
my mind," he recalled. "There are some great surprises and one
wonderful surprise that I'm really excited about."
Author Rowling recently revealed there will be five films in the
franchise, and Ellen laughed that British star Eddie has a full
diary for the next few years.
"I might be, yeah. It might be a while," he smiled back.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits cinemas from 16
November (16), with Colin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz and Jon Voight
co-starring. Johnny Depp has also been confirmed for the second
installment, due out in 2018.
