Ed Sheeran writes song for U.K. talent show winner - report
Ed Sheeran has reportedly used his songwriting talents to pen a track for the winner of The X Factor.
According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, hit maker Ed has penned one of his signature acoustic ballads to be released by the victor of the U.K. talent show later this year (16).
"Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner’s
song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner," a source
told the newspaper. "All the remaining contestants have heard the
track and it works for the majority. They can’t believe potentially
their first ever single will be written by Ed."
The programme's bigwigs will be hoping that enlisting Ed will aid
them in avoiding another embarrassing chart flop, like last year's
(15) winner Louisa Johnson and her Bob Dylan cover Forever
Young.
While 11 out of 12 of the winners of the show have clinched the
coveted number one spot with their winner's singles, Louisa's
offering only made it to number nine on the U.K. chart.
Ed has been keeping a low profile since last December (15), when he
announced he was taking a break from social media.
In an Instagram post, Ed wrote: "I'm taking a break from my phone,
emails and all social media for a while, I've had such an amazing
ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world
through a screen and not my eyes so I'm taking this opportunity of
me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and
see everything I missed.
"To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me
buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the third album is on its way
and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next
autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
However, during his time off, Ed has taken the time to write songs
for stars including Robbie Williams and Justin Bieber, as well as
filming a cameo role in recent movie Bridget Jones's Baby.
