Ed Sheeran receives The Hobbit sword from Peter Jackson
British singer Ed Sheeran has a treasured memento from a recent meeting with director Peter Jackson - the filmmaker gifted him with a sword from The Hobbit franchise.
The A Team hitmaker was in Jackson's native New Zealand on 8 March (13) when he stopped by the filmmaker's production company Park Road Post in Wellington to see his idol at work.
The pair hit it off and went out to dinner, and Sheeran reveals he
walked away with a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
During an appearance on morning show Live! with Kelly and Michael,
he said, "That was probably the coolest day of my career. Like when
musicians meet other musicians, there's always that bit of like,
'Oh, cool,' but you never really get starstruck that much. But
meeting Peter Jackson was probably the coolest thing.
"He took us (Sheeran and his encourage) out for dinner, gave me a
sword, which was cool. It's a real sword, it was one of the props
(from The Hobbit)... I gave him a guitar. Well, I gave his daughter
(Katie) a guitar."
Sheeran also shared a photo of Jackson and his new present on his
Twitter.com blog, as well as a snap of him holding Elijah Wood's
magical gold band from The Lord of the Rings franchise.
