Ed Sheeran passes driving test
Ed Sheeran has passed his driving test, just nine months after he first got behind the wheel for U.K. TV show Top Gear.
The Thinking Out Loud singer's first ever driving experience was on the race course for the motoring show's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment in January (15), and he is now an official licence holder after completing the practical test in Ipswich, England on Thursday (29Oct15).
His driving instructor posted a picture of the star on social media
holding his certificate while dressed in onesie, and in a caption
he wrote, "Congratulations to Ed S who passed his car test with us
in Ipswich this afternoon. Good effort Ed!!!"
Ed also celebrated on Twitter.com by writing, "Passed my driving
test yesterday, zoom zoom zoom."
He had a few close shaves when he filmed his Top Gear lap, narrowly
missing posts and careering off the track. He admits he signed up
purely for fun despite the lack of experience.
"Before today I had never sat in the driving seat or put my hand on
the steering wheel," he said on the show. "The reason I said 'yes'
to Top Gear is that I thought it would be funny that the first time
I drive (is on TV)... It was interesting. I had some funny
bloopers."
Sheeran is planning a hiatus in December (15) and he hopes to go
travelling, saying, "I think a break for me is coming off my phone,
social media and emails... I just want to get off it and live and
drive to places and listen to music and have normal conversations
with people and get back to normality."
