Drake accuses staff at Californian country club of 'racial profiling'
Drake has accused staff at a Californian country club of racial discrimination.
The Hotline Bling rapper, 30, was not on the bill at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival but joined fellow rapper Future as a special guest at the event in Indio, California, on Saturday (15Apr17).
While in the area, he visited The Madison Club in La Quinta, a golf, spa and country club that serves a surrounding private residential community.
However, on Sunday (16Apr17), Drake took to Instagram to accuse club staff of "racial profiling" when deciding how to treat their guests.
"The most offensive place I have ever stayed at in my life with staff who pick and choose who they are going to accommodate based on racial profiling," he wrote.
The Madison Club bosses were quick to angrily deny Drake's accusations in a comment beneath his original Instagram post.
"The Madison Club Inn completely refutes the notion that it is in any way, shape, or form a racist establishment," their response read. "This is textbook character assassination."
Drake's fans responded with fury to his accusations, posting scathing reviews of the exclusive establishment on social media.
Homes in the club's private residential community sell for between $4 million and $10 million , while the club itself has a joining fee of more than $200,000 .
The Madison Club is located just two miles from the Coachella site.
Despite the sour end to Drake's Easter weekend, he delighted fans at Coachella, performing the songs Jumpman, Gyalchester, and Fake Love alongside Future.
Other stars who performed at the festival included Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and British rockers Radiohead.
