DJ Tiesto axes Venezuela concert
Dance superstar Tiesto has axed an upcoming show in Venezuela as political unrest continues to rock the nation.
Police officials have been clashing with anti-government protesters since early February (14), and the ongoing trouble has prompted the Dutch DJ to scrap his 4 April (14) gig at the Metropolitan University in the capital city of Caracas.
Tiesto, who hopes to reschedule the show for the near future, tells
the Associated Press, "It's no time to party."
It is the second event Tiesto has pulled out of recently - last
week (21Mar14), the beatmaker had to cut short a concert in San
Jose, California after hitting his head on a screen onstage. He
suffered a concussion and had to bow out of his next tour stop in
Los Angeles the following day (22Mar14).
He isn't the only musician to cancel dates in Caracas - Italian
singer Jovanotti also recently announced he would no longer perform
an April show in the city over safety concerns.
