Denise van Outen and Lee Mead split

British TV presenter Denise Van Outen's four-year marriage to musical theater star Lee Mead is over.

The couple has decided to call time on the relationship after months of speculation but vowed to remain friends for the sake of their three-year-old daughter Betsy.

Split rumors have dogged the pair for months as they have rarely been spotted together since last year (12) due to work commitments. Mead had jetted to the U.S. to pursue his acting career while van Outen remained in the U.K. with their child.

A spokesperson for van Outen has now confirmed the split, telling DailyMail.co.uk, "Denise van Outen and Lee Mead are sad to confirm they have decided to separate. The couple remain the best of friends, with their daughter Betsy as their number one priority. The family ask for privacy at this time."

The pair wed in 2009 after meeting on the set of singing competition Any Dream Will Do in 2007, in which Mead was the eventual winner and van Outen a judge.
